Plugin page no longer viewable after EE4 update

My plugin page showed EE4 had an update so I updated and now can no longer access the plugin page – all I get is a blank page. I tried both renaming and even deleting the EE plugin via ftp and still cannot access the plugin page. I looked at file dates to see if anything else was updated and it looks like it was only EE. I’ve re-uploaded the EE files back to my plugin folder but am at a loss now on what to do. Any suggestions?

Hi there,

It may help to turn WP_DEBUG on to see if there’s an error being thrown.

When it doesn’t work to deactivate a WP plugin by renaming it (which looks to be the case here), you can try deactivating via the database by following this guide.

Since deactivating by renaming the plugin folder isn’t working, I think something on the server is caching the file path. It may help to reboot the server if that’s possible.

Thank you for the suggestion! It appears the EE update somehow conflicted with my all-in-one-event-calendar plugin. The error thrown referred to the aioec plugin and indicated an error on line 160 “Cannot use object of type stdClass as array.” I renamed both plugins and was able to load the page. Then I played with enabling/disabling both EE4 and aioec and now both seem to playing okay together again. Should I look out for anything else or would this just have been a hiccup?
Thanks for your lightning fast response!

Oops, I spoke too soon. It actually seems that there still is a conflict. When I logged out and came back in, I had the same issue. The other plugin is the issue obviously; however, they were working together until the EE update so I’m not sure how to proceed…
Thanks.

If you deactivate All in one Calendar does the issue go away again?

My apologies Josh – it does seem the the calendar plugin is at fault and it just showed itself with the EE update. Apparently, that plugin doesn’t play well with others on occasion. I learned that by commenting out the offending line in the php code of the Calendar plugin allowed EE and it to work together again without any ill effects. Again, thank you for your prompt responses.
