Is PayPal necessary to have?
What is the difference between PayPal IPN and PayPal Payment Pro?
If PayPal Payment pro is deactivated will it affect the paypal IPN?

Paypal IPN = Instant Payment Notification
This sends the user to Paypal to make their payment through Paypal site.
Paypal Pro is another service which you would need to sign-up through Paypal and pay a monthly fee for. This allows you to take payments from within your website, rather than sending them to Paypal to make the payment.
It depends on your Paypal account which one you would use, generally with a ‘normal’ paypal account it would be just the standard Paypal gateway.

Is there support for PayPal Advanced accounts?

Hi Christopher,
We have no specific support for PayPal advanced. It might be that the PayPal Pro gateway will work with it in part, as the service seems to just offer a choice of going to paypal or staying on the site to pay.
However, because we don’t formally support it currently you will not get that choice, and we cannot gurantee that it will work with the PayPal Pro gateway as we have not tested it.
I will certainly put this to our delevopers for consideration.
