Paypal Pro – Merchant Account Not Supported

Hi,

We receive this message ´Merchant Country Not Supported” when trying to check out in the EU…..

What do I have to do to fix this?

Do I have to purchase an SSL certificate?

Can you give me the correct steps to setting Paypal Pro up?

Hi there,

That error is generated by PayPal and is related to your PayPal Account.

That error is shown when you are trying to use PayPal Pro from a country that does not support it. PayPal pro is currently only supported within the UK, US and CA.

(The countries listed under ‘Website Payments Pro’)

It sounds like PayPal does not support PayPal Pro for your country, if that’s the case you will need to use another payment method.

What is the best payment gateway to use for European customers? Is there a way of forcing the checkout to be made without a paypal account? I know you can opt for this, but can you make this the default option?

I’m pretty sure PayPal does not allow forcing payments to be made without a PayPal account when you use PayPal standard, but you can ask PayPal to verify this. We have other payment methods listed here:

One of the Event Espresso 4 payment methods there that seems to be popular in Europe is Sagepay.
