Hi I’m having a right headache trying to resolve this I basically have a reoccuring event running on mutiple days I recently changed the registration dates so it would populate this coming year and also changed the price of the tickets – since doing this all customer are showing and incomplete although money is being taken from there paypal account, I looked at the paypal.ipn_results.log and this is what it says ..

Hi, I did find this in the log:

Errors resulting from the execution of curl transfer: Connection timed out after 45001 milliseconds[12/22/2014 2:51 PM] – FAIL: IPN Validation

It looks like the IPN is timing out. Have there been any recent changes to the server or the site such as security plugin installs?

Thanks for the quick response – no changes I’m aware of apart from the changes to the events.. it’s got me stumped and as this is a live site/event I cant express how much I need to get to the bottom of this

Hi Thomas,

Have you checked with the server’s administrator to see if they’ve updated the firewall’s configuration or updated the cURL modules recently?

Hi Josh, no updates on the hosts end unfortunately. Looking back through the log I’ve seen that this same error/timeout pops up quite a few times – the strange thing is that after changing the ‘registration date reoccurring formula’ now all the transactions come with this error – I’ve just put another transaction through here’s the return url from PayPal http://revolutionbikepark.co.uk/?page_id=368&r_id=4518-549855cd8942f&type=paypal don’t know if this will help..

Hi, could you double-check that the PayPal IPN URL is set to your Event Espresso transactions page?

This should be similar to this:

example.com/transactions/

Next, please try the simplified transactions template:

Hi Thomas,

It may help to set the cURL timeout to a higher value so it has more time before the timeout:

Hi Josh thanks for getting back to me, how would I go about doing that is it something my host will do or can I do it myself?

Hi, this is something that your host can help you configure on the site. It is a server config which is above WordPress.
