Payment status and emails

Just a couple of questions re payment gateway:
1) When people pay online via a online payment gateway, will their invoice read paid or do I have to manually go in and change the status via the backend?

2) When I do change the status manually, when people payed, does their invoice update automatically & is an email resent? Or do I have to resend it via the backend?

Hi, any payments that are processed during registration checkout (e.g. PayPal) will update the registration status for the registrant/attendee.

When you change the registration status for manual payments by adding a payment record, there is a send related messages option. You can check this to send their registration details.

*If you are using Event Espresso 3, then you can add the payment through the attendee record screen and then go back to the attendees overview screen and then click on the email icon to resend their registration details:
