I’m looking for a solution that will allow people to view an available appointment calendar, then if they want to make an appointment, they need to pay first – then set.
Does Event Espresso have this functionality? If so, please explain. If not, please recommend a solution.

Hello Mike,
With Event Espresso, the customer can view a list of available events/appointments, or view a calendar, then select the event/appointment they would like. Once they have selected the appointment, they will then pay for the registration.
I don’t know of a solution that allows payment prior to selecting the appointment time.
