Page not found cannot edit details

Hi there,

I have just bought the business version of Event Espresso, uploaded all the folders via FTP, accessed the Event Panel under the dashboard and started at the general settings tab.

I then input the correct details, clicked save for the first box and I get the loading icon then “page not found” but if I go back or refresh I get the correct admin page but none of the setting have saved. I have tried logging out and back in, restarting the browser and same thing happens.

I can’t add anything to set-up the registration and not sure why? I can’t even select which page I want the registration to appear on because nothing will save – Any help?

Cheers

P.S. – WordPress version is the latest one / it is a brand new installation / website under construction.

Hi Tatjana,

How are you today?

When you activate Event Espresso it automatically creates the required system pages,  (e.g. /event-registration/).

Do you have any other event plugins installed?

Hi Garth,

Good thank you and yourself? Nope, no other event plugins installed. We have a purchased theme from themeforest but I don’t think this would cause it to crash everytime we try to enter the general settings?

It has activated fine and I realise that it has created the pages. We already have an event page created so I was going to change it but I will keep it as is for now. The main thing is we can’t change or add any details in without it crashing – ie – when you upload your logo (the first item) – the page loads then displays page not found even though we are on the wordpress panel.

Would un-installing and re-installing via the plugin page help?

Very confusing!!

Hi,

That is indeed very odd. Yes you could try removing the plugin and reinstallling via the WordPress plugin upload feature. Your data wont be touched in the process, but if unsure remember to back up first.

If that doesnt resolve the issue we may need login details to examine it first hand, but try the reinstall first.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the response, I deactivated some of the additional features (mailchimp, multi-event etc) and it seems to be okay now, will add these back in and see what happens soon.

If I remove the plugin and re-install but want to keep the data now entered, how do I back up espresso?

Hi,

This guide can help with backing up the database – https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/

The data shouldnt be touched anyway but its always best to err on the side of caution, you will be grateful for a back up if something does go wrong.

Brilliant Cheers

One more thing – is the Price modifier available to add-on yet?  I can’t seem to find anything or anywhere to get it but we need it so that when you select a certain check-box in the questions that it changes the overall price.

Hi,

It is available as a Pre Release (beta version) so you need to go to your account page here on eventespresso.com and sign up to the Pre Release channel. After that a new (and very yellow) box will appear below your normal download list and you can get access to all the Pre Releases available including the Price Modifier.
