Not Taking Payments

I’ve had three customers who have registered for events and when they follow the “retry your payment” link it gets the following error.

Error Message

Two of them had a status of “Approved” and the other was at “Pending Payment.” The only way I have been able to let them make a payment was to delete the event and reregister them again. Problems started happening after we recently updated.

EE4.6.0 (getting admin to update right now)

Hi,

Did the event have a status of sold out?

Can you confirm which ‘Retry your payment’ link was this using?

The event did have a status of being sold out. Our field trips use the invoice option and then go back to use PayPal as they closer to the event since they book in August.

The ‘Retry your payment’ link is being generated when we go into their transaction and resent the payment information.

After seeing your response I changed the status to “Pending Review” for the event and it seems to have cleared up the problem. I would like not to have to do that on the other events especially because I don’t want people to double book. Is there any explanation for this strange occurrence? Thank you for your help.

What status did your registrants have?

What is the default reg status for the event (or for all events)?

So to confirm, your users register and I’m assuming select Invoice? You want those users to apply to the attendee limits but be able to come back later to confirm payment?

Registrants are set to “Pending Payment” as the default status. After they registered I would set them manually to “Approved” so that we wouldn’t have any double bookings. This is what I was told to do by Garth back in September.

You are correct that our users select invoice and come back to make payments as their event date gets closer. I just updated to 4.6.5 (our multisite doesn’t let us accept the automatic updates) and we are still having issues this morning. We are completely booked out until May so I don’t care about fixing the registration limitations. Right now I just need all of them to have a convenient way to pay for their event using the Repayment option.

Hi,
How are you today? Race conditions like this can only be solved by manually approving each registration or by building in additional checks for completed registrations along the checkout process. So, right now there is not a easy way to do this without developers getting involved. We do anticipate building a Race Conditions type add-on that will help manage these situations, but it will be somewhat involved because there is a lot to consider and we can elaborate if you want.

Hi,

We have reproduced this and are working on a fix.

We will update this thread once it has been released.
