No updates after applying support licence key

I’ve recently purchased the developers pack with 5 licences. I’ve used 3 of these in almost identical sites. Now I’m doing the 4th site. However, after entering the support licence key and saved (green key shows up), I could not update the Event Espresso plugin, i.e., it doesn’t notify of update and there’s no update option even though I know it does require update. It is on version 4.6.20 and the other almost identical sites have all been updated to 4.6.31.

Also, when I check my account, the licence key is not associated to any site yet. Another thing I’ve noticed on this 4th site is that in the General Settings of Event Espresso, the New @ Event Espresso on the right hand side is experiencing issues too. The error message is:
RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Connection timed out after 10000 milliseconds

From the Forums
RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Connection timed out after 10002 milliseconds

Similar thing happening on the dashboard too.

All these only on the 4th site. All the sites are on the same host.

Please advise. Thanks.

Regards,
Karen

Hi Keren,

The ‘New @ Event Espresso’ and ‘From the Forums’ widgets are not linked to your license key, but are very likely a hint to the problem.

Is this a new domain for that site? (Not a subdomain)

Do you have an security plugins enabled on this site?

It sounds like something is blocking the connection between your site and eventespresso.com

Thanks for your quick response, Tony. We have a main site and 3 subdomains. The 4th site I’m setting up is a sub domain. The only plugin other than Event Espresso I have on this site is Limit Login Attempts which are also on all the other sites and has been installed as a standard using Installatron.

Your suspicion that something is blocking the connection between the site and eventespresso.com sounds right. Can you please give me an idea where to start checking? Thanks for your assistance.

A good place to start is compare the non-working subdomain’s .htacess file with the other subdomains’ .htaccess files. You can look to see if the non-working subdomain has some additional rules there.

Thanks, Josh. I’ve checked the .htaccess and they are all just the standard redirection, nothing extra.

I’ve also been checking with the hosting provider and they have a question with the connection (pasted below). Hope you can help to answer. Thanks.

“Do you have any additional information as to the type of connection it’s trying to make or if it’s over a specific port?”

Hi Josh, you know what? I just reinstalled (re-cloned) and it appears to be working now. So I hope it stays that way as I’m still not sure what was wrong!
