The editor works fine with my template for posts and pages but when I try to edit an actual event I am not able to switch between HTML or Visual and cannot edit the event — editor is completely useless. I have disabled all plugins to determine if there is a conflict — no change.

Hi Russ,
I recommend checking for a conflict with the theme. There may be a theme function that is causing the issue. You can check for this by first switching to the TwentyTwelve theme (or any other theme from the wordpress.org theme repository, all of these themes pass a thorough code quality review before inclusion.)
