Hello,

I have one questions about adjusting the registration form which is very important.

Our programs are not free but we don’t want to have the program fees appear anywhere on our website. Can the registration fees be take out/made invisible but participants are still able to register? Note: We do not do Paypal payment, all is offline payment (might change later).

Thank you for your support in advance.

Carsten

Hi Carsten,

I’m not sure if I understand your note clearly so here is some feedback.

Event Espresso supports free and paid events. You can also enable multiple payment gateways (e.g. PayPal for online payments and the invoice gateway for offline payments).

If an event is paid, then the attendee will see the fees on the site. If the fees will vary, then you could make the event free or a small value like $1.

Then in the event description, clarify that fees will be explained at the actual event.

Another feature that may be helpful here is the ability to send custom emails per event. You could send a custom email for these events where the fees may vary and use a different email for other events.

Hi Lorenzo,

Thank you for your reply. Let me quickly explain the reason for my question because it might sound strange why I would have a paid event but not want to show how much.

We offer trainings that are very niche and are of a higher price than most other trainings or events and we have of course some competitors in the market. In the country we live and operate people often just look for price and don’t look for quality and then make a decision based on who is cheaper without finding out more about the training.

Since we have taken off all pricing for our trainings from our webpages the amount of clients calling us has increased drastically because they are very interested in what we offer and need to contact us to find out how much it is. But then not only do we get their contact details but also have a chance to communicate with them personally. If we display our training program with the price in the event page we loose this advantage.
By the time people finally enrol and use the event page they know already the price because they have had contact with us. We don’t just want to create a registration form with a form builder which of course is possible but we need the look and feel of a professional enrolment platform like yours. So I can’t create a “free” event because that would be false marketing 🙂

Is there any way to deactivate the part where it shows the price for the training/event or get around it? All the payment are being made offline or via PayPal link which is being created by our office after we have received a registration so we don’t need to have the in-app link to PayPal and such.

Looking forward to your reply.
Carsten

Hi Carsten,

Thanks for sharing that. An event needs a price set even if it is set to zero.

If there is a value greater than 0, then the payment gateways will activate. If zero is set then it will show as free.

Pricing for free events doesn’t appear on the registration form but it would appear elsewhere.

I created a free event here so you can try:

http://testdrive.eventespresso.com/?ee=206

a) On the single event page above, you’ll see it says “free event.” That messaging can be changed.

b) On the next page, you’ll see it has a price of $0.00. That can also be changed.

c) After you register, you’ll receive an email confirmation. That messaging can also be changed.

However, within your WP dashboard, these events would show as free (pricing of zero).

Thank you Lorenzo. That what I needed to know. As long as the wording can be changed as you describe it, it will work. I don’t mind if it shows differently at the backend on my dashboard.

Cheers
