Hello, So i was testing the events last week and signed up for one. but i never got a confirmation email at all. I need help figuring out why |
Hi, If you go to test an email from one of the email Message template editors, do you receive the test? If so, it may help to go to Event Espresso > Messages > Message Settings and set the the option for emails to be sent on the same request. If not, can you verify whether *other* emails (like a WordPress password reset email) get sent from your site? You can install this plugin to verify whether the mail actually gets sent or not: It’s important to discern whether the emails are actually not getting sent, or if they’re actually getting sent, but not received. If you find that they’re getting sent, can you check to see whether the emails are getting trapped in the spam folder? In most cases, setting up a third party service to deliver email will resolve email delivery issues. The built-in mail servers (especially those that are used for shared hosting accounts) can be unreliable. We recommend using a service like Mandrill, Postmark, or any of the other services listed in our documentation for sending transactional email. More info here: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/postmark-app-mandrill-transactional-email-handling-services/ Alternatively, you could also use a gmail account and configure a plugin like the WP Mail SMTP plugin to send the emails. |

okay. i will look on monday |

okay first i have a question. when i go to the templates i don’t see an option for sending a test. we also don’t have any custom templates made Is there anyway i can give you access to look and see if we are missing something? |
Sending a test email from a message template is done in the ‘Extra Actions’ section, here – https://monosnap.com/file/9i2zeZMimRjaxNoy9Ob4sAmuLdV00S Do you not see that section?
Generally we require support tokens in order for us to work directly on the site, although we will often log in and quickly check over settings to see if anything stands out without one, however you’ll need to confirm if the email is actually sending above first as its not clear what we would be checking for yet, so working through the steps above is the best way to get this fixed. |

I got the test email |

i am not sure what is wrong. our main problem is that we need to have it so the customers automatically get a link to the correct zoom room for the event. we have a chron job set up to do this but i do not believe it is working anymore |
Can you explain further please, what cron job have you set up? Did you follow this step that josh posted:
The reason I ask is that option sets the messages system to no longer use Crons to work through the message queue and just triggers/send the email on the same request that generates the registration. |

well, I just did an update on the plugin. and I got all the confirmation emails from the test event I made. I am not sure exactly what the chron job does, it was set up by the former web developer. and yes i made the change to the settings. but we really need to have it so when someone signs up for an event it sends them the correct link to zoom for the right event. along with connecting twilio so it sends an automatic text an hour before the event to remind them. |
They could be referring to the wp_cron that EE sets up to work through the messages, or something custom, which can make troubleshooting this a little more difficult.
May I ask what zoom is? Do you mean Zoom.us? Where are you storing the link for currently? You have a couple of options, if the content of the emails is the same across your events and you just want to change the link, then I would store it in a custom field in the event itself and then pull that field into the message template (the email). The other option is to create a custom template for each of your events and include the link in that (this is useful if each event has different content within the email rather than just a different link). I can provide details on either of those if you let me know how you want to proceed and where you store the URL currently.
We (Event Espresso) don’t have an integration with Twilio, or any SMS service, but there is a 3rd part add-on available which can apparently link your EE install with Twilio here: https://themebound.com/shop/event-espresso-sms-reminder-plugin/ However, note that we do not provide support for that add-on as it wasn’t written by ourselves and we don’t have any experience with it. |

okay. I want to verify we put this in right? and then also how do we put it in the email templates https://drive.google.com/open?id=1outHHYNfsdozrkCz9QJEWsTfeKIuK5KJ |
The section you have the URL currently is in ‘Name’. Name is the what you call to pull the value, so you need to put the URL in ‘Value’ and give it a name that you can use. For example, in ‘Name’ you may have ‘zoom_link’ Then in value, put the link, like so: https://monosnap.com/file/49f0fXt7lbWeTFSIupd4qxUgeBBi5x Then, to pull that into your message template, you add the As an example, that may go in Event Espresso -> Messages -> Default message templates -> Registration Approved -> Edit Recipient In the Event List section, you can adds Event specific shortcodes like the above, so it may look something like this: https://monosnap.com/file/Ipoo0V2L8ZHjHJdP3T3NqB4dFWvpuw |
