New registration uses old reg id# and fails… payment completes, no student reg

Hi…

I’m seeing an issue where a student registers for an event (a sold out event no less.. 2 days prior), is able to pay and the payment completes through paypal but is not registered.

In our case, it’s a student registering for a class.

The student completes the process, registers… pays… gets a receipt from paypal but IS NOT registered for the class.

This seems to happen here and there… enough that we have to check every few days to catch anything we missed.

This time.. it was the students friend who wanted to join her in the class, but we had no records of it.. and the class was sold out to begin with.

I looked into this.

I see that the reg id#2054 is passed along to paypal with this registration. That id# however was used a month ago for a different registration. I think this why it’s failing but I don’t know why it’s being given this ID in the first place, as it was already used.

Then I looked to see when it was sold out. It hit it’s max reg 2 days before this new student wanted to register.

How it the name of all that’s good and holy can I possibly debug this?

Hi Paul,

Can you let us know exactly where it is that you see a reg ID being passed to PayPal? The reason I ask is because the reg ID is not passed to PayPal. The transaction ID and the Ticket name are passed to PayPal along with the payment amount. So if you’re seeing a reg ID in PayPal somewhere, that may be something else, like a transaction ID.
