I would like to add a question to the registration form “how did you hear about us?” I would like this question to appear once only. I have managed to add it to the question group which is presented for each registrant, but not for the generic ‘Address Information’ group. I also tried setting up a new question group specifically for this question, but it does not appear at all. Can anyone advise? Thanks.

Hi there,
To display a custom question you just need to assign the question to a group that is requested within your event.
So you mention you only want this question to appear once, is that for the whole group of registrations or once PER registration? (2 tickets = 2 times this question is asked)

Thanks Tony. I only want the quesaion to appear once per registration. It doesn’t matter how many tickets are ordered. The existing group appears for each registrant within a single registration. So, as I understand it I’ll need to add a new group. But when I tried to add this it didn’t show up. Any idea why?

That’s the easiest way to do it yes.
So if you go to Event Espresso -> Registrations Form.
Within Questions you have your custom question yet?
Have you created a custom question group within the Question Groups tab?
If not create one, then select your custom question within that group – http://take.ms/gwvUa
Now edit your event again and select that question group for the ‘Primary Registrant’ – http://take.ms/KsIyK
Save the event and retest, does it show the question?
If not, double check that the custom question has not been set to admin only – http://take.ms/b7cCM

Thanks Tony. That’s fixed it. I hadn’t added it to the registration. Is there a way to add it to all events by default?

Hello,
The questions via question groups are assigned via the event editor. If you have an existing question group that is used for the primary registrant only, then you can add the question there and save and any event that uses that question group for the primary registrant will automatically receive that question.
If you do not have a question group like that, then create a new one, add the custom question and save. Then go to each event and enable it for the primary registrant and save changes.
Then repeat that process to enable the new question group for any additional events and then saving changes through the event editor.
