New Event Category – defaulting incorrectly

Hi,

I meant to post a reply to my previous support post regarding New Event Options.

I followed the instructions and the time and the pricing defaulting incorreclty has been fixed – awesome!

HOWEVER, each new event we create also DEFAULT selects “Special Events” as a category and in fact none of the events we post regularly fall into that category (only occasionally do we use it), and because we have so many categories, when you create the event, you don’t notice that “Special Events” is preselected by default. So, now we have a TONNE of events in the Special Events Category that shouldn’t be in Special Events.

So, I need to do two things. And need help doing it.

1. Remove the defaulting of new events to no longer pre-select Special Events.
2. Remove unwanted events from my Special Events Category (there are hundreds now, and we can NOT do this manually/individually), but leave them in all other categories they were assigned.

Please help!

Thank you.

Hi there,

I checked and the plugin that Tony wrote does not remove any “orphaned” categories. I made a fork that will remove those, so if you’d like, you can download that plugin here:
https://github.com/joshfeck/espresso-remove-broken-rows/archive/master.zip
then activate the plugin on your site, then deactivate it.

With regards to item 2, the simplest way to deal with those is go to Event Espresso > Categories and delete the Special Events Category. Then add a new Special Events Category.
