When the user fills out the registration form and clicks “Proceed to payment options” the spinner comes up and the page locks up. The admin view shows the registration as ‘abandoned’ – happening almost weekly now.

Hi Daniel,
I ran a test registration and it worked fine for me.
The spinner means there is an ajax request happening and EE is waiting for a response. This can ‘freeze’ if there is unexpected content returned within that request that EE doesn’t know what to do with.
The log above is a log of functions called within Event Espresso but it doesn’t show the ‘unexpected’ content that was likely thrown on the ajax request.
Usually that content is a notice/warning/error thrown by the server and should shown be within the servers error log, so do you have access to the error logs on there server? (usually available within your control panel or within the error_log file on the server)
If so take a look within those and see if any errors have been thrown at the time of the registration above.
If you go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance -> System information.
Search for wp_memory and note the value set.
Now search for memory_limit and not the values set for that.
Post both of those here please.

i’ve asked our hosting company to turn on logging. i dont have access to it in their dashboard. i was able to reproduce it on my end using firefox. we had 5 registrations die today because they’re timing out.
when i click on proceed to payment, 2 ajax calls are posted to admin-ajax.php and they both come back with 200’s. After that nothing. no errors in the console, no pending loads on the Net view in firebug.

Hi Daniel,
This registration issue sounds sporadic so I wonder if your website is running out of memory.
Could you please share feedback on the memory that is being reported by the system tab for Event Espresso?
If you go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance -> System information.
Search for wp_memory and note the value set.
Now search for memory_limit and not the values set for that.
Post both of those here please.

some progress from the server side of things. i just received this from hosting company:
Thanks for contacting DreamHost. Sorry to hear about the problems you
have been experiencing. It appears that the MySQL server is a bit loaded
which is most likely the cause of the errors. To remedy this we can move
the account to a newere lesser loaded server where these problems should
not occur. There is some downtime but it should not last longer then
20-30 minutes if even that. Reply back to confirm and we will that move
underway for you.
here’s hoping that it resolves this.
