I am the Master Administrator, however, our site was developed by hire. As we transition controls from her to me, I need to update site and add on details. Yet, I cannot change her being the author of core papes; and therefore cannot add group questions to specific events.
Is there a back door to this?

You can ask them to change your user role to admin, then deactivate the Roles and Permisssions add-on.
