Need help updating site to EE4 from EE3.1.20.P

I just purchased version 4 and tried to update manually. I thought I could get it to work since I don’t need the any events to transfer, just the basic website structure. Even when I delete all the files and drop the EE tables from the database, I’m still getting a WP crash.

Have the calendar and recurring events plugins but only really use the calendar.
