I’ve long used NextGen Gallery Pro Slideshow without issue. It no longer functions in either my new event I’m just setting up or an unchanged event from a few months ago where it once worked. It now shows each slideshow image stacked vertically down the page (ie: no slideshow … just images).
I have the same issues in the Event Description and in the Venue Description.
I’ve tried FooGallery and LayerSlider as alternatives. Neither of these work either. Both of these display error messages which may provide a clue:
FooGallery says “The gallery was not found!”
Layer Slider says “LayerSlider encountered a problem while it tried to show your slider. Please make sure that you’ve used the right shortcode or method to insert the slider, and check if the corresponding slider exists and it wasn’t deleted previously.”
Is it possible EE3 is not able to see the path to these plug-ins?
All three of these plug-ins work fine on a otherwise empty test page here:

The NextGen Gallery Basic Slideshow partial works but doesn’t have the features I need.

Hi William,
The reason that the FooGallery and Layer Slider aren’t working is because they’re coming in from the Venue short code.
They work as expected if their shortcodes are put directly within the event description. You can have a look at this screenshot to see that the shortcodes parse from the Event Description.
In EE3, venues are not posts. If you need to place slideshow shortcodes within venues, you can consider migrating to EE4.

I purchased the Support Token to get NextGen Gallery Pro Slideshow working. In my recent (August) event, NextGen Pro Slideshow worked without issue in <u>both</u> Event and Venue descriptions but doesn’t work now under the latest EE3 version. Is there any hope here? I much prefer NextGen Gallery Pro Slideshow to any alternative.
Note that the shortcodes embedded in the venue description and displayed through an EE3 venue shortcode in the event description are executing; they’re just throwing an error that did not occur in previous versions.
Would downgrading to an older version of EE3 solve this? Are there any potential issues of consequence to downgrading? Is there a download link to older versions.

Downgrading to an older version of EE3 will not solve this. Can you explain exactly what’s happening when you try a NextGen Gallery Pro Slideshow short code? Can you post an example of a NextGen Gallery Pro Slideshow that doesn’t work?
