Multiple Ticket & Pricing Options – but not really…

I feel like I got suckered. I need to be able to offer users the ability to purchase one or more tickets that vary in type and price. For example “2 Adults, 1 Child” – where adult tickets are one price and child tickets are another. As it stands, I purchased the personal license, but all I can do is offer one person one ticket at price of their choosing. To register a family of 5, for example, there would need to be 5 separate registrations. Am I missing something?

Hi Paul,

I am sorry you feel that way, we do try to make all the various options and features that are available as clear as possible.

What you are after is possible, but with an add on from the Business Licence – the Multiple Event Registration add on. This allows users to add events to a cart system. Within the cart the user can select the number of tickets they want for each ticket type, like so http://d.pr/i/uJIK

The sales team is offline currently, probably stuffed with turkey, but I will send them a message to see if there is something we can do to assist you.

Hi Dean,
Thanks for the fast response. I can appreciate why that feature requires the multi-event plugin. However, I am simply trying to set up a family reunion site for my fiancee – a one time thing – and have no need for all that comes with a business license. “Elegance” is not a requirement at this point and there are simpler, less expensive solutions; a simple Paypal Donation link for example would do it. I was just hoping to meet in the middle with a nice plugin that did what they wanted. I sent a note to the sales team, so I’ll wait to see what they say.

Thanks again for the fast response!

Hi Paul,

While I don’t work on the sales team, and I don’t know your pricing requirements for attending the family reunion you are planning, I can offer a suggestion on how the basic Event Espresso setup will allow for multiple pricing options.

One way you can set up multiple pricing (without the Multi Event Registration plugin) is set up price levels as “buckets”. Here’s an example:

Let’s say you need to charge around $20 per adult, $10 per child. Depending on the make up of your guest list, a set of options like this could work:

Single adult: $20
Two adults: $40
Three adults: $60
Two adults + 1 child: $50
Two adults + 2 children: $60
Two adults + 3 children: $70

Then at some point you may want to do “or more” price options like:

Two adults + 4 or more children: $80

Hi Josh, I appreciate the input. For now we are just explaining the costs and letting the family members do the math and input the amount as they checkout with Paypal.
