Hi
I’m building a site using EE4
If we have beginner courses and intermediate courses….. can we offer an automatic discount of say £100 off if they book on to both courses in the same purchase?
I’m at that point in the build where my client is asking for stuff like this along with automated email reminders, and your roadmap on trello just seems to take 6-12 months for any items (other than tons of payment gateways) to get developed so am feeling a little despondent and not sure if i should start gain with EE3 or try another plugin.
* Woocommerce checkout
* Volume discounts
* deposits
* conditional forms
* Gift certs
Most of these feel pretty crucial to me so being honest are we talking another 1-2 year before these get built?

With regards to the development of an automatic discount of something like £100 off if they book on to both courses in the same purchase, that’s something that can be custom developed to your client’s specifications. There may be a distributed add-on that gets built for Event Espresso 4 in the future that will have discounts based on a specific ruleset. However if your clients wants this now, you can get a quote on the cost of custom development and with that information they can decide whether they want to move forward with that now.
With regards to the other items in the roadmap that you mentioned, the only items that are currently being planned to be developed by Event Espresso developers are in the “Planned Features” column. The items in the “Member Feature Requests” columns may or may not get developed by the Event Espresso core team.

OK understood about the discount…. maybe I could offer an extra ticket option when they purchase the beginner course that is more expensive and then the client would issue them with a voucher code to use when they return to book their next course giving them 100% discount.
would I be better going with EE3 or does that have a short shelf life eg less than 2 years?
What are the key features that EE4 has that EE3 doesnt just so im sure before switching?

Hi Jacl,
Event Espresso 3 doesn’t exactly have the feature you’re looking for, where you can set a discount if they buy both event A and event B. One idea you could do with EE4 is:
1) Set up both the beginner course and the intermediate course as separate datetimes within the same event.
2) Set up 3 tickets:
a) Beginner course only
b) Intermediate course only
c) Beginner + intermediate course
3) When you set up each of the above 3 tickets, you’ll assign them to the appropriate datetimes.
