More issues with EE4

This is my third time writing about EE4. At this point I don’t even expect to get real help, since so far every issue I’ve had you guys have pretty much told me to deal with it. At this point it is mainly in hopes that you improve before I abandon EE in general and find a better product.

So here I go:

Sucks that I can’t write my attendees emails periodically, such as “Here what to bring to the class.” I was able to do that in EE3. Your description of EE4 lead me to believe that I could do it.

Annoying that past event populate. EE3 kindly set them aside, and if I needed them I could access them by filtering.

When I resend registration info to attendee, it redirects to the page that lists every single attendee… EE3 sent the email and managed to know that I didn’t want to be redirected to a different page.

I have to manually change every single ticket’s expiration date. Although I like the idea of tickets expiring at separate times, why can’t I set a default expiration. A good idea would be to have every ticket expire, by default, the day of the event.

When I filter events by “this month,” it actually doesn’t show this month’s events, it shows events I created this months.

Silly that I can’t check-in people from the event. this one is actually not that huge of a deal, but seems logical be able to go to the back-end of the event and check people in from the attendees list.

The new calendar doesn’t work. Doesn’t show the month, nor does it allow folks to go to the next month.

If I can get the UI of EE4 with the functionality of EE3, that would be awesome.

I’ve expressed a few of these already and your responses have been less than satisfactory. You have essentially created twice as much work for me, and the inability to email my attendees has created a huge problem… and please don’t tell me to illegally import the email into mail chimp and email them from there, or to ask if they want updates to make it legal. Students want class info/reminders a day or two before classes. EE3 allowed for those email updates.

Everything I am complaining about worked in EE3. I updated with the impression that I would be losing add-ons and the ticket system, which I was okay with. Turns out I lost a lot more.

Hello,

Sucks that I can’t write my attendees emails periodically, such as “Here what to bring to the class.” I was able to do that in EE3. Your description of EE4 lead me to believe that I could do it.

As we shared in our prior replies, batch notifications will be available in an upcoming release of Event Espresso 4.

Annoying that past event populate. EE3 kindly set them aside, and if I needed them I could access them by filtering.

Could you rephrase this comment?

When I resend registration info to attendee, it redirects to the page that lists every single attendee… EE3 sent the email and managed to know that I didn’t want to be redirected to a different page.

If you resend the registration info, you should see a confirmation at the top of the page that the information was sent out.

I have to manually change every single ticket’s expiration date. Although I like the idea of tickets expiring at separate times, why can’t I set a default expiration. A good idea would be to have every ticket expire, by default, the day of the event.

This is meant to offer flexibility. If you have several different tickets, you could setup your first ticket with the appropriate dates. Then duplicate tickets to create new ones and update the name of the ticket and pricing.

When I filter events by “this month,” it actually doesn’t show this month’s events, it shows events I created this months.

This works similar to EE3 and depends on the start date for an event.

Silly that I can’t check-in people from the event. this one is actually not that huge of a deal, but seems logical be able to go to the back-end of the event and check people in from the attendees list.

Registrants can be checked in from the Event Check in tab in the WordPress admin.

The new calendar doesn’t work. Doesn’t show the month, nor does it allow folks to go to the next month.

This could be a conflict with your theme or another plugin. Does it work if you temporarily deactivate all plugins and reactivate only Event Espresso and the calendar addon?

Hi Edgar,

Thanks for the feedback. This is a real surprise that you feel our support is of no real help. I’ve looked over the other support threads you’ve started and in most cases they were resolved and you seemed happy with the support.

That aside, I can tell you the dev team is working very hard at bringing features over from Event Espresso 3 to Event Espresso 4. It’s not a short task and we are a small team. I will be sure to register each of your concerns you’ve listed here that involve Event Espresso 4 missing something Event Espresso 3 has.

A couple points:

Silly that I can’t check-in people from the event. this one is actually not that huge of a deal, but seems logical be able to go to the back-end of the event and check people in from the attendees list.

It turns out Event Espresso 4 has this feature. Please go to Event Espresso > Registrations and click the Event Check-In tab. I think you’ll like it.

and this:

The new calendar doesn’t work. Doesn’t show the month, nor does it allow folks to go to the next month.

We’ll be more than happy to help you with this. Please post a link to the calendar page and we will investigate.

Josh I was as surprised as you are with support issues. When I first got EE3 support was better. Josh, I’ve seen the same issues on other people’s post. I agree with what one other person said, and that is the you (Josh) are the most helpful. Overall though, support has not been great. I get it, EE4 is still in testing, but customer service should not suffer. I hope it improves before it’s time to renew my license.

Check-in:

I realize there is a check-in tab, however, I can’t go to an event, click on attendees of that one event, and check-in the attendees of that event only. I have to go to the check-in tab, then filter attendees. Seems easier to just go the the event, click attendees, and be able to check them in. Again, this one is not a big deal.

As for the calendar, I’ve tried it with all plug-ins disabled and it still won’t work.

Again, I wasn’t expecting any resolutions, mostly to inform you of concerns. It is frustrating to have support expect me to do twice the work, and suggest alternatives that are not realistic. If I didn’t pay for the plug-in, I would expect to do a lot of work, including php work. I did pay for this plug-in and I’m not a fan of having to pay for something and still be expected to jump through hoops to accomplish what I was accomplishing with the original product.

I wish to remain loyal to this plug-in, but get your stuff together.

Hello,

Is a link to the calendar page available?

Also, could you confirm that you are using the EE4 calendar with Event Espresso 4?

The EE3 calendar will not work with Event Espresso 4.
