Modify ticket price when a date is removed/expired from the event

Hello,

I have looked thru the forums and could not find anything on this topic.
We set up numerous events/classes, and each event has 5 dates for the event with one ticket price. After one of the dates has expired/past, we manually go into the event and modify the ticket price to reflect the 4 date cost. This is very time consuming. Is there a way for this to occur automatically?

So one event with 5 days: 4/1,4/2,4/3,4/4,4/5 costs $115. After 4/1 class has passes, we have 4 days left that someone can register for. So now the cost would be $92. Can we have EE automatically change the ticket price to reflect $92?

Thank you for your assistance,

Garth

Hi there,

I’ve only heard of someone doing something like that once before. While it seems like a good idea, there is a better way, that can make it easier to manage while also giving you better experiences for attendees and also your organization.

When you modify an existing ticket with registrations, the system tries to keep the accounting correct. To do that, it archives the first ticket and creates a duplicate ticket with the new price. So, at the end of doing what you stated, technically you have four tickets.

Instead of making the edits as you go and having to manage the ticket prices over time, instead create an event with four dates and four tickets. Each ticket will have access to either 4 dates, or 3 dates, or 2 dates, or one date.

So for example, when you create your event, it only takes say 5 minutes to do the following:

1) Create four datetimes: datetime 1, datetime 2, datetime 3, datetime 4

2) Create four tickets (with unique names if possible)
2.1) Ticket 1 with access to all four dates, price it accordingly. Set the ticket Sell Start and End Dates accordingly. Such as, Ticket 1 should sell until datetime 1 passes, then Ticket 1 should no longer be for sale.
2.2) Ticket 2 should be created with access to datetimes 2-4, with the appropriate price. The ticket sale start date should start AFTER ticket 1 sale end date passes, and the Sell End date should go until datetime 2 happens.
2.3) So forth for ticket 3 and 4.

Doing it this way, once you create your event, your tickets will automatically start and sell with the appropriate prices. Plus attendees see that the price they purchase will correspond with the number of dates they have access to. Furthermore, your event data will include the attendees, prices, revenue, etc. associated with the correct ticket. This will give you good and easy to use data for optimizing future events.

Also, in the future, you can Duplicate this event so it’s set up for the next time it happens and all you have to do is change the dates for the next time you have this event with four dates.

Does that help?
