Mobile App (iPhone) issue

OK, following the docs, I downloaded the iPhone app. When I put in my creds, it says “Error Occurred. The requested resource could not be found but may be available again in the future. Subsequent requests by the client are permissible.”

I’ve tried many different iterations of the URL, I’ve changed my admin password just to make sure. I shut off Wi-Fi just in case a special port was being used. I can’t get it to work.

I’m just setting up my first test event and would love to see how this works.

I am having the exact same experience – I updated EE4 and verified my version of WP. It seems to be the exact same language as a 404 error. All permutations of URL and reset user/pass failed. If this is a simple settings issue, I would love to know how to correct it so I could test the app with a bluetooth scanner.

Now I am getting: “Undefined 1XX status code” rather than the original error

Hi there,

You can follow the troubleshooting guide in the EE4 scanner documentation:

I had Version 4.8.40.p for EventEspresso. Updating to Version 4.8.42.p

I have WordPress 4.4.2. Guess I need to do a backup and then upgrade. I’ll let you know.

Hi there, I can verify that the mobile apps require WordPress 4.5.

OK, got by WP all updated along with EE. Closed my app on my iPhone and re-launched it (killed the app, not just going back to the home page). Put in my creds and still got same error.

I went to the Permalinks page. It is set to “Plain (http://urbandaletheatre.com/?p=123)”

Working off of cellular so no firewalls in the way.

The Mobile apps require that the permalinks are set to Post name or some other form where it uses %postname% (or as they call it Pretty Permalinks). Plain permalinks will not work.

Dang, that means reformatting all my links. That’s ugly.

So, you are saying that it will not even authenticate with Plain permalinks. It should at least authenticate and then say “Hey, I can’t work with Plain Permalinks.” It should also authenticate and say “Hey, Upgrade WordPress, Dufas!” or “Hey, you need to upgrade/update EventEspresso.”

Failing and not giving a good reason creates a lot of Support issues. I know. I’ve done customer support for most of my life. 😉

I’ll just be here updating all of my links…

WP 4.5.1 and EE4 Version 4.8.42, permalinks set to plain, not going through any WiFi, and still cannot get in – back to the original error message: “Error Occurred. The requested resource could not be found but may be available again in the future. Subsequent requests by the client are permissible.”

Thanks for the feedback. You can set up redirects for your existing links. The Redirection plugin works well for that sort of thing.

I changed from “Plain” to “Post Name” permalinks (Did not update my links yet. just testing) and got “The server detected an infinite loop while processing the request (Sent in lieu of 208 Not Reported).

Guess I’ll flip back to Plain and try later.

cleared the error and tried again, now it says “The server was acting as a gateway or proxy and received an invalid response from the upstream server.”

Sorry for all the posts.

Hi there,

Please let us know when the site has been changed to use %postname% based permalinks. That’s when it will be possible to troubleshoot.

Set to Post Name. Now the mobile app says “The server was acting as a gateway or proxy and received an invalid response from the upstream server.”

That might be an issue with the authentication. It seems that some servers aren’t ready to use the way the EE JSON API handles authentication.

Someone from the dev team will be able to verify if it’s an authentication issue and may find a solution if they can access the server. If possible, can you send WordPress admin level log in credentials along with FTP credentials via the contact form on this page?

I host thru ResellerClub. Do you know if there are any issues with them?

Hi there,

Can you send FTP credentials as well? We need FTP credentials in order to check the error log.
