We have discussed it, however, we don’t have anything planned at the moment, as there are a few things, like the REST API and hiring a mobile development team, that need to be completed first. In the meantime we have released the bar code scanner add-on that accomplishes pretty much the same tasks.

I just wanted to add some additional details to Seth’s reply for yourself and other readers as there is an alternative to waiting for a dedicated ticket scanning app.
The barcode scanner add-on can currently be used with any mobile app that can pass the barcode information through to an input field. Most apps automatically do a search for you or copy the contents to the clipboard which makes it very awkward to use, however we found 2 apps that work well for this:
Both basically allow you to switch out the standard keyboard for one that has a barcode scan button, so within your browser you can navigate to the barcode scanner (same as you would on a pc/mac) tap the input field for the scanner and then tap the barcode icon to use the devices camera.
