Migrating from EE3 to EE4 ?

Hello,
my client’s EE3 business license is to expire on Dec 13 (this week) and we have to decide if they should migrate to EE4 or simply renew EE3 license.

Their site http://theatrelacbrome.ca needs / is using following EE features:
– one event has multiple dates over the theatre season
– a customer can purchase tickets for multiple events with one payment / transaction (add to cart type)
– we need to be able to view attendee info so we can see who completed online payment and who needs to be followed up with manually for any abandoned transaction
– we need a calendar of events (widget and main page)
– we are using customized event page templates
– we need to be able to use event shortcodes to create event category pages
– we need mailchimp integration
– we are currently using early bird special promotions (discounted ticket prices before certain date for a given event)

Please let me know if we should migrate now, and how to best transfer some of our EE3 customizations (event template, add to cart button styling and calendar) to EE4.

I think some of the features are not yet in EE4 but maybe there is a temporary solution that could be used until you develop these features – please let us know.

Thanks.
Florian

Hi Florian, you’ll need Event Espresso 3 to meet this requirement:

– a customer can purchase tickets for multiple events with one payment / transaction (add to cart type)

The others can be handle with Event Espresso 4.

Currently customizations will not be applicable to Event Espresso 4 as it does not use the same templates. You could duplicate the live site into a development area and then run the migrate and work through the template updates.

Here is a tutorial on how to customize the buttons in Event Espresso 4:

Thanks Lorenzo,
in regards to the missing feature do you plan on integrating that to EE4 in the future ? I think it should be part of the standard features as it is pretty common for people to purchase several items in one transaction.
Please advise.
Thx

Yes, but this won’t be available this year. If you need that for your project, then I would renew support for your existing support license and update in the future when multiple event registration is available for Event Espresso 4.
