Cannot figure out which shortcode does change the header of messages with both, Surname and Name and not Surname only.
I can not identify where the Headers of messages appear: “Hello Attendee” does not fit our needs, seems to be the shortcode [EVENT_LIST] ???

This is usually in the Main Content section of the Message. For example, the Registration Approved template for the Registrant has this in its Main Content section:

<h2>Hello, [RECIPIENT_FNAME]:</h2>

This is confusing,
in all messages there is no clear understanding, how and which shortcode does the job: “Hello, Dieter” on Registration confirmation email for example. All messages do not show the intro text sequence with a HELLO or surname shortcode but I only can see [EVENT_LIST] at this place. Is there a description how to handle?

I can guess to replace [EVENT_LIST] – i have to use surname and name with
<h2>Hello, [RECIPIENT_LNAME][RECIPIENT_FNAME]:</h2>

or

<h2>Hello, [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_LNAME] [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_FNAME]:</h2>

As I do not find your suggestion [RECIPIENT_FNAME] in the messages example list shortcode table!

Which message template are you editing?

I can guess to replace [EVENT_LIST] – i have to use surname and name with
<h2>Hello, [RECIPIENT_LNAME][RECIPIENT_FNAME]:</h2>
or
<h2>Hello, [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_LNAME] [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_FNAME]:</h2>

No you can not.

[EVENT_LIST] is a shortcode that loops over all of the events within the registration and outputs the details from within the EVENT_LIST section for each event. As the name implies, its build a list of events.

RECIPIENT_ and PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ shortcodes are based on the registration, so swapping EVENT_LIST for a registration based shortcode, will likely not work how you are expecting.

If you let me know which message you want to edit I’ll show you how, the same can then be applied to most of the other messages.

Example, Message Registering awaits payment.
The email is showing Hallo, dieter right now, has to be Hallo, dieter haller…

Hallo, dieter:

Ihre Registrierung(en) erwarten eine Bezahlung für die folgenden Veranstaltungen:

Veranstaltung: SeeGespräche Sommerfest
Registrierte Person(en):
dieter haller

Registrierungscode: 144-9-1-0967

I am not sure about other message template areas coming in the bottom…

So all messages which are going to Ticket Customer need this workaround.

So that’s the Registration Pending Payment message type.

Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Pending Payment.

Click on the ‘Primary registrant’ link to edit that contexthttp://take.ms/e2IUh

Now you’ll see this – http://take.ms/zMJ93

Add in the [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_LNAME] shortcode there – http://take.ms/a3zSP

Save and retest.

You need to make sure you edit the correct context for each message type. It sound slike you may have been editing the Event Admin context.

I see, trying to scroll was wrong direction, changing template for specific content recipients…. Thanks again…
