Mailchimp Integration Questions

Hi there,
We’re thinking about using this integration but I have two questions:
1. If someone comes to lots of our events, so is already on our Mailchimp list, I guess the integration simply triggers them to be added to the relevant group?
2. As far as I understand the GDPR requirements, if someone has purchased from you then it’s in their legitimate interest for them to receive news about that event and therefore double optin is not required if Mailchimp is only going to be used for that purpose. So is there a way to turn off the need for double optin from within the plugin? Otherwise, someone who comes on lots of events is going to have to go through the double optin process every week!

Apologies for the delayed reply.

Correct, if the user is already subscribed to the list then the registration will update the groups on that list.

Note that it will only add groups and not remove them, so if they register onto Event A with Group 1 & 2 selected then they subscribed and will be set on Group 1 & 2. If they then Register onto Event B which has Group 1 and 3 selected (or just Group 3) then that registrations add Group 3 to the subscriber meaning they are now set on Group 1, 2 & 3, not just Group 3 from the last registration.

2. Yes, there is an option to disable double all double opt-in emails.

However, if you leave the double opt-in option enabled then if a user is not subscribed to your list and registers onto an event they’ll receive an opt-in email. If they are already subscribed and you’re just updating the Groups (as above) then no double opt-in email is triggered anyway.
