Loss of Emails in switching from EE3 to EE4

Hi, I just migrated from ee3 to ee4 and I thought I followed all the instructions but just when I thought I was home and hosed I discovered that all my old emails were lost. I then discovered an item in the support that said that this would happen and that I should get copies BEFORE I migrate – but this was not part of any of your migration warnings or instructions as far as I could see.

So I have a suggestion and a couple of questions. If that instruction was part of your pre-migration information and I missed it, mea culpa. But, if it’s not, could I suggest that you include it for others?

The questions …

Is there any way of recovering those emails? I had a about a dozen of them and many of them were very detailed.

I have had a look at the email template options in ee4 and none of them really seem to do the trick. When someone gets registered for one of my screenwriting courses, I want to send them an email that details what they should read, see and write before them come, plus a bunch of info about the venue, location, etc. I want every registrant to get this as soon as they register. But none of your templates seem to accommodate this sort of information. There is a newsletter option but that won’t be sent automatically to every registrant and this information needs to be. What would you suggest?

Many thanks. And, by the way, I do love the new ticketing options under ee4 – that was the reason I switched and they’re great.

Hi there,

The emails are still in the database, the limitation is EE4 can’t use them. However, if you deactivate Event Espresso 4, and reactivate Event Espresso 3, you can access your email templates. The only thing is you’ll need to convert the shortcodes for EE4 by hand.

With your question about sending an initial message, I recommend looking at the Registration approved message template type.
