Looks like this is exactly what I need, just want to be sure

Hi.

I am looking for a ticketing and registration system for an upcoming Expo and it seems event espresso it’s exactly what I need. Just to be sure I’d like to ask the following questions:

1. Is is possible to issue “unassigned” (don’t know what else to call them) tickets. We would like to issue batches of tickets and send them to different points of sales (like local hardware stores) so people can get their tickets there. This of course means we won’t have the information of the person buying the ticket. Is this something that EE can manage?

2. Regarding ticket validation, and sorry if this is a dumb question: do you have to validate the ticket with an android/iphone device? or can you also do it with a simple QR code reader connected to a computer? And also, can you have multiple access points where tickets are validated?

3. Regarding staff management. From what I read I understand EE will allow me register and issue “badges” for speakers and/or exhibitors, is that correct?

Thanks.

Best regards

Hi Gustavo,

How are you today?

1) I presume you want each of the tickets to be unique so that they can only be used once?

2) We’ve coded our apps to connect to Event Espresso, so if you configure a scanning method to connect to the Event Espresso db then you can use a different device.

3) You can create a ticket in whatever shape/size/orientation/layout/color you want.

Does that help?

Hi Garth.

Thanks for your response.

1) Yes, I’d like each tickets to be unique and used only once. Is that possible?

2)Does that mean I would have to made a specific development for the scanning device?

3) I was talking about speakers and exhibitors, not attendees. My questions is if EE can issue exhibitor’s credentials ?

Regards

1) I’m not aware of a way to create unique tickets without manually registering each one. I’ll ask around though and see if anyone has some ideas.

2) Yes. You have to connect those devices to a database (your website) to validate the ticket.

3) You’d need to register the speakers and exhibitors into their own event with their own ticket type (a badge) with their credentials.

Thanks again for your quick response.

1) Would it be possible for someone to buy 100 tickets for example and use the same information for all of them instead of having to complete different information for each ticket? For example, I am thinking maybe ‘Al’s Hardware Store’ “buys” 100 tickets. If all 100 tickets can be assigned to Al’s Hardware Store then that’s ok. Al’s Hardware Store will sell the physical (printed) ticket on their premises, and each ticket will be unique anyway (ticket number) when validated, correct ? would that work?

I think it would work for you if you allowed group registration and do not set a max number for group registrations (or you can do that). Then Event Espresso will allow you to “purchase” a whole lot of tickets for that retail location in one transaction. Just manually set the status for all the tickets as “paid” so they will be valid when the person comes to the event (because you’re not quite sure if they were paid for or not).

Does that make sense?
