License key not updated

I recently renewed the license through April 2014. Today I tried to upgrade the Event Espresso plugin and it said my site license key didn’t support multiple domain updates (which I don’t have). I have deleted the site key, saved the change, and pasted in the site key from my account page. I now see this message:

There is an automatic update for Event Espresso available but your Site License Key has not been set. Please go to the Event Espresso General Settings page to set your Site License Key. You can locate your license key from your account on the Event Espresso website.

As far as I know, my license key HAS been set. Help? It was only renewed on Friday 4/5, is there some delay in resetting the key?

Hi,

I am sorry about this. I have reset the key again. Please remove the key from your settings, save the settings. Add it back and resave, then visit your site to force WordPress to make a background action to notify us. If the message is still occurring in 24 hours time, please let me know and I will generate a new key for you.

We still seem to have an issue. I cleared the site key field, saved the changes, copied the site key from my account page and pasted it in and re-saved. I still have the message I described, and my account page shows the license key as “not active.” I’m not sure what I have to do to activate a notice: we’re currently using Event Espresso for a conference in May, and I visited the event page and opened the registration page, but didn’t fill it out. I hope I don’t have to register as I won’t be able to attend the event. I’m still getting the “update available” notice for the Event Espresso plugin and also still getting the error when I try to install it.

Hi there,

It looks like the key you have may be invalid. I’m going to remove the key from your account and give you a new key. Can you remove the key that is on your site by deleting the contents of the license key field, then save the Event Espresso>General settings page.

Then you can go to your account page and copy and paste the new key into the license key field.

I’m now really confused.  I didn’t get to this for a day or so.  Today I saw that the error message was missing.  With the OLD site key still in place, I was able to update the Event Espresso plugin.

But you said you’d given us a new key, which showed as “not active” on my account page.  So I deleted the old key, saved it, installed the new key, saved it.  I have no error.  But I can’t visit my Registration page and the account page still shows “not active” on the new site key.  Help?  Do I actually need to do anything here?  I don’t show any errors in my dashboard.

I’m facing the same problem. Please advise.

Hi Kivy,

The old key probably just took a day or so to kick in and activate after I initially reset it. Your account page now shows the new key as active. Has this fixed the issue? And when you say you cannot visit your registration page what do you mean? The licence key will not block any of your pages, it is only for updates and support.

@gabriel, I have reset your licence key. Please remove the key from General settings, save the options, add it back and resave. Please give your site some time to connect to ours if it does not instantly stop the message from appearing.

@dean, I must just not have waited long enough.  It all looks good now.  As for visiting the registration page, it’s actually fine except that when you click on the “register here” link, instead of displaying a shopping cart it gives a new link, View Cart, which you have to click on again.  If that confuses me (it did) it’ll confuse others, I think I need to add some wording to the page.

@kivy yes thats expected behaviour, so people can continue to add more events to the cart. You could always look to change the wording of the view cart link or as you say, add a note somewhere.

This is a guide on how to change wording via the language files https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-change-wording-with-poedit/

This is a link to a PHP function that can go in your themes functions.php that enables you to change wording http://www.viper007bond.com/2011/07/13/changing-core-wordpress-strings/

I have this problem again: “You have the correct Site License Key for Event Espresso but your current membership access only allows for automatic upgrades on one domain. Please log into your account to manage your Site License Keys or purchase a support license now.”

Could you reset the key, please?
