license key keeps erroring

I have checked and triple checked my license key. Since I purchased the license in March….I still get the following error. when I log into my event espresso account it says it is active on my domain, but my wp dashboard plugin status states otherwise. Please advise

A new version of Event Espresso is available. View What’s New with version 4.9.38.p. A valid Support License Key is needed to enable automatic upgrades. The key you have entered is invalid or has expired. Please log in to your Event Espresso account to manage your Support License Keys or purchase a support license right now.

Hi,

It looks like you’ve updated a couple times since you purchased, is that right? How have you been getting the updates? Did this recently stop working?

Hi there,

We checked into this and it appears that the backup plugin installed on your site is highjacking the request that’s set to the Event Espresso server. Here’s how to fix that:

1. Temporarily deactivate the backup plugin.
2. Resave the Event Espresso > General settings page.
3. You’ll then be prompted to upgrade to the current version of EE.
4. Then you reactivate the backup plugin.
