After updating buying a licence for EE3 and using a subdomain to test I am ready to migrate over to the ‘real’ url. I am just wondering if I will have any problem with the licence key as I can see it should only be active on one url. Can you advise what is the best method to make sure everything goes smoothly with this.
test site – http://www.test.lifetimetennis.co.uk/event-registration/
real site is – http://www.lifetimetennis.co.uk
thanks
James

Hi James,

The license key gives you access to support and auto updates, as it has already been assigned to your test domain it will need to be reset to assign to your ‘new’ domain. However if the key is still within the test site it could ping our servers and re-assign the key to your test domain once again.

So the way I would do this is to transfer over to the new domain, Event Espresso will show you a warning stating the that your license key should not be used on more than one domain and you will not have access to auto updates.

Then request a license key reset (either on the forums or through your account page) and re-assign the key to your live domain.

If the test domain is to stay active as your dev site for example, be sure to remove the license key from that site or you will once again see the message stating the key is in used on more than one domain.

Does that all make sense?
