Hi. After I updated EE4 today, I got this message. “As part of the process for updating Event Espresso, your database also needs to be updated. Event Espresso is in COMPLETE MAINTENANCE MODE (both WordPress admin pages and front-end event registration pages are disabled) until you run the database update script. Visit the Maintenance Page to get started, it only takes a moment.”

The maintenance page says “Event Espresso has detected event data from version EE4.8.43.p (Core) that can be migrated (updated) to work with version EE4.9.0 (Core).”

“Since you have already been using Event Espresso and have previous event and registration data in your database, you have the option to migrate, or copy over, this existing data into a format that is compatible with EE4.9.0 (Core).”

I would show you a screenshot of this maintenance screen but I can’t seem to upload any here. I’m very concerned about this as I’m in the middle of receiving registrations for a conference, so I can’t afford to lose anything. What am I supposed to be doing here? I can’t access my registrations at this moment.

Thanks
Kylee

Hi Kylee,

I would show you a screenshot of this maintenance screen but I can’t seem to upload any here.

For screenshots you need to host the image somewhere and post the link here. We have some examples of how you can do that here:

I’m very concerned about this as I’m in the middle of receiving registrations for a conference, so I can’t afford to lose anything. What am I supposed to be doing here? I can’t access my registrations at this moment.

That’s expected as EE needs to migrate your data from 4.8.43 to 4.9

However before proceeding have your created a backup of the database just to be safe? If not I would recommend doing so. We recommend creating at least a database backup before running any updates (not just Event Espresso but ANY plugin, theme or WP update)

When you view EE you should see something like this – http://take.ms/fTN4e

To migrate your data you need to go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance – http://take.ms/GUXL6

Then you will see something like this – http://take.ms/OSjXm

You want to click to migrate your data – http://take.ms/4rY95

Then click begin to start the migration – http://take.ms/NkizC

(Note – Be sure to double check you are clicking the correct button, the other option resets Event Espresso and removes the current EE data.)

Once the migration has been complete EE will display as normal.
