Just upgraded to the latest version, and when someone tries to register for a class, they click Add to Cart and the icon just spins.

For example:

Looks like your version of WordPress needs to be updated as well. You are running WordPress 3.3.1 and the latest version of Event Espresso requires WordPress 3.5+.

thanks I am upgrading now.

Just upgraded and still seeing this error:
Warning: file_put_contents(/var/www/vhosts/CDAA.org/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/index.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/vhosts/CDAA.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/functions/admin.php on line 303

And now the Calendar does not show:

Does the [ESPRESSO_CALENDAR] shortcode no longer work with the latest version?

I put together a quick list of our Trainings here: http://www.cdaa.org/activate/ee

and we’re still seeing a spinning circle.

The calendar is broken on your site because it is outdated. Looks like you need to update all of the installed Event Espresso plugins on your system.

It looks like this error is causing problems:
Warning: file_put_contents(/var/www/vhosts/CDAA.org/httpdocs/wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/index.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/vhosts/CDAA.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/functions/admin.php on line 303

Can you check to see if the /wp-content/uploads/espresso/languages/ directory is writable?

I dont have a espresso/languages folder.

Upgraded the Calendar and disabled the old one, but still get a spinning circle when trying to register someone: http://www.cdaa.org/training/seminar-conference-registration?regevent_action=register&event_id=93

Also, if I remove the Add to cart code and enable standard registration for a seminar, I see this error when trying to submit a form:

Sorry, there was a security error and your registration was not saved.

I am logged into the WordPress admin and I am seeing this message:
Warning: is_dir(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/var/lib/php/session) is not within the allowed path(s): (/var/www/vhosts/CDAA.org/httpdocs/:/tmp/) in /var/www/vhosts/CDAA.org/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/includes/espresso-admin-status.php on line 295 /var/lib/php/session does not exist – contact your host to resolve the problem.

Modify the open_basedir settings in your PHP configuration (See Runtime Configuration).

The open_basedir setting is primarily used to prevent PHP scripts for a particular user from accessing files in another user’s account. So usually, any files in your own account should be readable by your own scripts.

Is this something you can help me with?

FYI. I found that error in the WP Admin > Event Espresso > System Status page.

I think the reason your register buttons just spins, because the server cannot create a session or the session path is missing on your server.

You will need to contact your hosting company to help you modify the open_basedir settings in your PHP configuration. Also, they will need to make sure that the session path on the server is writable.
