Issuing tickets to paid attendees

We implemented the printable ticket add-on after opening registrations for our event.

So now we have 600 approved registrants and need to email them all with their ticket.

Is the optimal way to do this via a batch message? Is there another way I should be thinking about in terms of getting an email out to them with their printable ticket url?

Hi there,

The batch message is a ‘contact’ based message, it sends a message based on the person rather than the specific registration, so I wouldn’t recommend using it for something like the above.

Will you only be triggering the message for Approved registrations? I’m assuming so and if thats the case I would use a custom Registration Approved message template as you can then ‘retrigger’ the registration approved message in bulk and include the link within that.

I can add more details on doing that if that will work for you?

Correct, just to Approved registrations. I’ve actually been playing around with a similar idea which involved turning off the “Registration Approved” message but leaving ticket notice message on, selecting all approved registrations and then using the “Approve and Notify” batch action which seems to then send the Ticket Notice to the selected (approved) registrants.

We did hit a bad gateway error trying to send to 600 at once so am thinking about breaking the process down to batches of 200 say.

Sure, if wanting to use just the ticket notice that’s another option and yes, loading them up in batches is likely a good idea as there is a lot of processing involved with messages.

Sounds like you have this figured out to work in a similar way to what I would have recommended 🙂
