Issues transitioning to EE4

I attempted to update to EE4 without reading any of the supporting documentation, having wrongly assumed that it would be an uneventful update. The version of EE3 I had was not up to date. After migrating the data, I ran into some issues leading me to do more research, and found that I should have updated EE3 before migrating the data. I am back to an updated version of EE3, but somehow deleted my multi-event registration plugin from my WordPress dashboard at some point in the day when doing some other cleanup. My current license is for EE4 – how can I access a download to reinstall the multi-event registration for EE3 so that I am back to regular operation before migrating to EE4?

I am definitely no expert and am not even working with this site anymore – I was (attempting) to help out my former company, but this hasn’t been a smooth day! Please let me know if I need to clarify anything. Thanks in advance.

Hi Samantha,

Which version of EE3 was the site running? It needs to be running 3.1.36+ which by the sounds of the above it already was? (otherwise EE4 would not run the migration at all)

You do not need the EE3 Multi Event Registration Add-on (MER for short) installed or active for the migration to EE4, MER adds additional functionality but the data is still stored within the database and EE4 handles that without the add-on.

EE4 is not a simple update to EE3, but is a new system built from the ground up to allow for a much more solid framework for Event Espresso to be built upon further. What issues did you run into?

Hi Tony,

Thanks for getting back to me. I deactivated 3, activated 4 (event data is all in place), and am trying to get everything running. The biggest issue I have at the moment is that I do not have a “register” button on any of the events. Could there have been a step I missed?

Hi Samantha,

Is there a link to one of the event pages available so we can see?

There should be a ticket selector appearing which lets you select an event.

If the ticket selector is missing, then we’ll need a copy of the theme to take a look. Please email a zipped copy here so we can load it onto a testing site:

support@eventespresso.com

If you are not able to get a copy of the theme, then I would restore the site from a backup and reactivate Event Espresso 3. Then contact us via the email above so we can get you an updated copy of Event Espresso 3. You’ll then be able to update to the latest version and you can revisit the migration another time.

Hey Lorenzo,

The ticket selector is missing entirely. I’ve got a “down for maintenance” page up, so a link won’t let you see anything. I’ll include login credentials with my email if that helps. I have the zip file of the theme, so I’ll send that to you guys. We have been considering changing the layout, so if the theme is the issue, it’s not the end of the world.

Hi Samantha,

Unfortunately it appears the login details you send previously are incorrect, can you recheck those please?

Rather than sending them via email, you can send the details securely using this form:

Hi Samantha,

Looking over your events it looks like the ‘Display Ticket Selector’ option has been set to No, so EE will not display the ticket selector.

You’ll need to edit your active events and set the option within each event to display the TS – http://take.ms/RxoCB

Set that option to Yes, update the event and check the event page, does it show the ticket selector?
