This error just started today, no issues with IPN validation in the 2 years of using this plugin. No updates were done to the site recently, I have since upgraded to 4.7.5 from 4.6.?12? just to see if the problem would go away.
I had 2 users register for a course and they both received a “Your payment failed” email. I checked their registration and the Transaction had
IPN Validation failed! Paypal responded with ‘ Internal Server Error Internal Server Error – Read The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Reference #3.ecbc3b17.1435792458.aaa612f ‘
Is this a PayPal issue or a me issue? Like i stated before, nothing has changed and everything WAS running fine.
Any assistance in where to look next would be great

I am also now having this exact same issue as of just last night – and hasn’t ever been a problem before. No updates have been made to software on our end – perhaps Paypal has made some changes that we are unaware of?

Hi guys,
We have also been running into PayPal issues on EE.com 🙁
Judging from the fact that neither yourselves nor ourselves have changed anything, I have to surmise that this is a PayPal issue.
I’ll raise an urgent ticket for this, as we are getting other reports. There may be something we can do internally, or we all may just have to weather the PayPal storm, it really depends on what the actual issue is, which is unclear currently.

We’re looking into this. It appears to be an issue at PayPal’s end. We’re looking to come up with a workaround and if we do, we’ll post more information here.

I think Paypal must have fixed the problem – magically IPN’s are now starting to go through.
