Infusionsoft Affiliate Tracking Questions

I came across this thread: https://eventespresso.com/topic/infusionsoft-affiliate-tracking/ and I’m still trying to wrap my head around everything and figure out what I need to do in my particular case. On our site I exclusively use tables that have an add to cart link in them as the way for people to add and the sign up for events. I don’t utilize the default event registration pages, I create a registration page that has a table with the corresponding events and then use that as the alternate registration url on each event. We have an event coming up that we want to use the affiliate tracking on and the event has multiple variations (we have a main conference, pre-seminar, post-seminar, etc and package the various options together), so I have a registration page setup that has a few different tables on it that include all of the variations.

Will the affiliate tracking work in this case since I utilize tables and if so which method will I need to go about to accomplish this? I am hoping that our affiliates will be able to link their customers to the registration page and whichever event they choose to add to their cart will get the affiliate ID carried over. Also, it looks like there is supposed to be an image on the modified redirect portion on the wiki page that isn’t displaying for me (after ‘…URL something like this:’): https://eventespresso.com/wiki/infusionsoft-addon/#modified_redirect

Thanks for the help, I’m just not real clear on when the various methods around affiliate tracking should be used and which one (potentially) applies to my scenario.

Hi Yolande,

OK, so this is quite new to me as well, and I followed Adam’s instructions in the post you linked (https://eventespresso.com/topic/infusionsoft-affiliate-tracking/) and while I needed to redo a few things and obviously test it, it did work and tracked sales even with the Add to Cart.

As such I would say that this method will work for you, but I would strongly advise running some tests with it to make sure everything is in order.

Oh, one thing I did do differently. Where it tells you to add add the URL to the Custom Referral Partner link URL, I added the URL of the Event Registration page, as that page is used throughout the registration process.

Thanks for the reply Dean, I think I need some help with the modified redirect portion of the wiki. https://eventespresso.com/wiki/infusionsoft-addon/#modified_redirect It looks like there is supposed to be an example image (or example link) in there that breaks down how to create the modified redirect link and I can’t see it (or I misunderstood it). I guessed on what I was supposed to do there and my tests haven’t gotten the referral partner ID to transfer over so far, so I’m doing something wrong. Can you fill me in on how exactly the modified redirect link is created? I am hoping it can be created with the URL of the page I made that holds the tables for my events (not the myurl.com/event-registration page)? Is that how you did it on your tests? This is the url of the page that I am hoping to direct people to http://events.infosol.com/ibis-2014-registration/ and this is the url of my test tracking link found in the partner portal http://events.infosol.com/referral.html?p=jstest&w=jstest

Also, I did what you did and when I created the tracking link in infusionsoft, I used the registration page URL in the ‘website address’ field.

Thanks!

Hi,

The modified link “missing image” is actually the paragraph below it which is a quote (though I understand it doesn’t look like one).

The modifed URL will look something like this

http://events.infosol.com/ibis-2014-registration?ref=abcd

where abcd is the referral partners code.

If you look at my fake referral partner here http://take.ms/SHQ8G you will see the code is dldr, so the link would be

http://events.infosol.com/ibis-2014-registration?ref=dldr

The “Custom Referral Partner link URL” setting in the Referral Partner Defaults section (CRM > Settings) should be the main registration page, so whatever page the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode is on.

I tried useing something similar to http://events.infosol.com/referral.html?p=jstest&w=jstest and that just didnt work for me at all. Using the ref= worked fine though.

Awesome, I got it working! Thanks Dean, I appreciate the help! Good way to start off the morning. My test affiliate is working and tracking so I am going to double check that the legitimate affiliate account works and then we can shoot that URL over to our partner(s). If I run into anything else I’ll let you know, but so far so good.
