Hi there,

Can you check to see if the errors go away when you switch to the default WordPress theme (twentytwelve)?

Hi Josh,

Yes, it does go away. I’ve discovered that the calendar widget is what’s causing the problem. Whenever it is present on a page, all interactive functions like pull down menus, accordion etc all stop working on IE8. Even the events on the days are not showing on the widget but is showing on the normal calendar page. I’m using the Tfingi theme http://www.tfingi.com/

Can you help please? This is for my client, and they want to use that theme with the calendar widget, so changing themes would not be an option.

Hi there,

Typically if it’s an issue with a specific WordPress theme we recommend contacting the theme developer for support. However we can take a look and may be able to offer some suggestions on how to fix the theme if you can post a link to the page where the issue is happening.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for the response. I’ve currently got the theme guys looking at it. Will get back to you if they can’t manage to fix it. Thanks!

Hi Josh,

Can I message you private to give you the link and website site protect password? The theme developers haven’t managed to solve the problem. In fact I think they’ve made it worst. Would be really helpful to get your help on this.

Look forward to hear from you.

Hi,

It seems like this is an obscure error that occurs with IE8 and the base code we use for the calendar (FullCalendar).

As far as I can make out it seems that a similar issue as is described here (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5170405/fullcalendar-js-error-in-ie-8-unknown-runtime-error) is occurring on line 8, char 6738 of the minified fullcalendar.min.js.

I havent been able to test it yet, but I would say that that runtime error is probably blocking other JS that occurs and doing something similar to the above may assist.

As an aside, your menu doesnt work with JS turned off either.

Please note we generally only support browsers one version back from the latest, to help encourage people to upgrade.
