How will PayPal 2016 security updates affect EE4?

Hello,

Last week, I just launched registration for a small conference we are holding in May 2016. Today, I received an email from PayPal notifying me of security updates that are taking effect in the new year.

I did not use sandbox to test our registration process. I simply created a $1 ticket option that we used to test the whole process, which we then removed as an option once we opened registration to the public.

What do EE4 users need to do, if anything, in response to this PayPal security crackdown?

Here is a link from the PayPal email with more information on the security changes:

Hi Christina,

Most of the changes relate to the hosting environment, so you’ll need to check with your Website hosting provider and ask them to verify that the server environment they use meets PayPal’s new requirements.

I Christina,

We are making some updates to the PayPal integrations. They are complete and in the queue for testing. Keep your plugins updated and you’ll be all set.

Update: The updates to the PayPal integrations in Event Espresso 4 were included in the latest update ( Event Espresso 4.8.28.p ).

You guys are awesome! Thank you for your attention to this! I am still relatively new to EE. Does the plugin update automatically or do I need to re-install a new version or update files? I would be nervous to do this with registration currently open!

I should mention that we had a registrant sign up yesterday and pay for their tickets through paypal, and there seemed to be no problems or glitches with the transaction or EE… If it’s not broken, don’t fix it?

It turns out PayPal hasn’t implemented their updates yet. Those are going to be rolled out throughout this year.

You can update to the latest version of Event Espresso by going to the WP > Plugins page, and there will be a link that you click that says “Update”. There are some more details about how you can run the updates here:
