How to refund a Braintree transaction?

We had an event get cancelled and I need to refund payments via Braintree. I went into the transactions, clicked Apply Refund, entered the amount and selected Braintree as the payment method. After applying, I now see the message with a Total Amount Due of $10.00:

No payments have been applied to this transaction yet. Click “Apply Payment” below to make a payment.

What am I doing wrong?

I do now see both transactions listed, the original payment and the refund, both coded green.

You’ll also need to log into your Braintree account and issue the refunds within the Control Panel:

The Apply refund feature on the Event Espresso > Transactions pages are purely for accounting purposes.

And the record should say no payments applied with an amount due after?
