Hi all,
I need to create sessions in an event. I tried to create event for each session, but the problem is, registrant don’t need to pay for the sessions, they just need to pay one time for the main event and they can choose which sessions they want to follow. If I try to create event for each session, I have to input ticket price for those free sessions. ( It looks weird to input 0 in the price )
The other problem is how to make the registrant know that they have to pay for the main event before register for other sessions?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joanne Tjia

Hi there Joanne,

You can set this up in a few steps.

First, ensure that the main event pricing is setup via the ticket / pricing option in the event editor.

Then click on the gear icon (advanced options) and then place a checkmark in the required option.

Now you can create the additional sessions and set each pricing to zero. Be sure to add the quantity available for each session. For example, if a session is limited to 7 attendees/registrants, then add 7 to that ticket / pricing option.

Be sure to save changes after editing the event.

The last step would be to apply this tutorial which will change free tickets (pricing of zero) to display free instead of 0.00:

Hi Lorenzo,
thanks for your reply.
I’ve tried the code and it works:) thanks for that.
But another problem occured 🙁
Every time I try to add more sessions, a warning appears.
I captured the warning here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/pe3bcx1ji7qvojm/c.png?dl=0
Because there are many more sessions that will be added, do you have solution how to make the warning disappear?

thanks,

Joanne Tjia

Hi Joanne, regarding the ticket / pricing options, that warning may appear when you start to have a large amount of ticket or pricing options. For example, greater than 15.

You can ask your web host to increase the value for max_input_vars and some web hosts allow you to do this on your end. Here is an example:

Hi Lorenzo,
I’ve asked my web host and they’ve increased the value for max_input_vars, but the warning still appears every time I add a new session. They added these code:
php_value max_input_vars 10000
php_value suhosin.get.max_vars 10000
php_value suhosin.post.max_vars 10000
php_value suhosin.request.max_vars 10000

Are those the right codes to add ?

Thanks,
Joanne

Hi, they may need to restart the server services.

Approximately, how many sessions are there currently?

hi Lorenzo, currently there are 17 sessions, and there will be 30 sessions in total. I have contacted my web host to restart the server services. I’ll let you know when it’s done.

Thanks

Hi, that is a large amount and may slow down the registration process. Are you able to split that event into multiple events which would then reduce the ticket options?
