How to combine event categories

I have a summer camp/after school educational business and I go to various locations to provide my services. I have a rather large area to cover and I want to separate it into 4 different locations (North, West, East & South). I also want sub categories under each location for Summer Camp, Workshops, After School and Free Events.

I was hoping to add the two event categories to get only summer camps for the south location without have to have a category for each one (south summer camp, north summer camps, etc)

Is that possible?

Hi there,

It’s possible to assign two or more categories to an event, but I think what you’re asking here is if it’s possible to display a list of events that have both categories assigned to them (e.g.. a page that lists all events that have the North category **and** the Summer Camp category). If that’s the case, are you looking to use a short code to display a simple list of these events on a page?

I would like the end result to be a simple list of all the summer camps that are in the north region only. If I did one that was summer camps and north would I’m thinking it would list all the summer camps and all the north region?

No, that’s not what I was asking.

Here’s how to make a page that lists all events that have both the North category and the Summer Camp category, or in other words, are summer camps in the north region only.

1) You assign the summer camps in the north region only to both the summer camp and north categories.
2) You create a WordPress page and place a short code like this on it:
[EVENT_LIST category_identifier=summer-camps,north]
You’ll need to swap in your category identifier for summer-camps and north.

Then for other camps in other regions, you make other pages with a short code like:

[EVENT_LIST category_identifier=summer-camps,south]

Or perhaps I can do a category filter default to the second category that I want to have listed.

can you do this as well with the table template?

Yes you can. The short code will look like this:

[EVENT_CUSTOM_VIEW category_identifier=summer-camps,north]
