I’ve noticed that if I take too long during the registration process, I get the ‘no event chosen’ error. How can I change the length of time people have to register for an event? |
|
I checked that session.gc_maxlifetime = 1440. The ‘choose an event’ thing happens in a much shorter time, like maybe 5-10 min. |
Hi, the session expiration for registration checkout is much longer at 2 days. If you are seeing it expire within minutes, then double-check to see if you are using any plugins that have the ability to interact with WP transients in the wp_options database table. For example, a plugin like WP Optimize has an option that will clean up transients. — |

Hi, the expiration time is now 1 hour instead of 2 days. With that mentioned, your registrations should not be expiring within a few minutes as you described so please double-check to see if you are using a plugin that removes transients such as the WP optimize plugin. Thanks — |

I don’t have WP Optimize installed. Would caching plugins like ZenCache or Autoptimize affect things? If so, is there a way to exclude EE from their actions? I went through both of their settings and googled too but I don’t see any options for handling transients. |
Hello, caching solutions in general will need to be excluded from Event Espresso since it is a dynamic experience similar to purchasing something from an online store. We do not have specific tutorials for those caching solutions that you mentioned but we do have some information for other platforms: https://eventespresso.com/wiki/setup-nocache-exclusion-rules-event-espresso/ — |

Thanks, I’ve excluded those URLs from the cache. Do you have any suggestions on how to test to see if it’s working or not? |
Hi, I usually test caching plugins by browsing the site in a different web browser than what I’m currently logged into the WP dashboard with. For example, if I setup no-caching rules through the WP dashboard using Firefox, then I would test in Chrome, Opera, or Safari: This is because caching solutions usually do not cache for logged-in users so using another web browser will provide a similar browsing experience as a registrant/attendee as they would not be logged into your website. — |
