When I change the page template for an event to Full width template or no sidebar template – it does not change. Is there another way to do this?

Hi there,

It can depend on the WordPress theme, there may be a setting in the theme to use a full width template for single posts. If the theme doesn’t have this, are you open to using a different WordPress theme?

I have to stick with this theme. If I change in the WP settings how will I target the event page?

The event post will usually use the single.php template to display its content, if the theme has a single.php template. You’d look for a theme setting that sets single posts to not have a sidebar, if that setting exists it will automatically target the single event posts.

Is there a way to access the templates – I can’t find them?

Hi there,

Here’s a link to a guide that shows how to access the files on your server:

https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients

Your theme’s templates will be located in the wp-content/themes/{theme-name} folder.

If you make any changes to your WordPress theme, it’s best practice to build a child theme and make the changes there. Here’s a link to a guide that you can follow to build a child theme:
