hi there,

we upgraded from the free version of EE to paid EE4 not too long ago. at some point, one of our event categories ‘old-workshops’ must have been retired. it seems to still exist in the urls, as we’re trying to resurrect some old content and make it new again. for example: http://billpfeiffer.org/workshops-old/core-program-wei/ has workshops-old in the url. that doesn’t exist in my categories list for ee or posts or anything i can find. that part of the url is not editable in the event slug either. can you help? thanks!

Hi Emily,

I found this page here which is outside of Event Espresso:

http://billpfeiffer.org/workshops-old/core-program-wild-earth-wild-soul/book/

Is there a WordPress page with that slug and then other pages are children of that parent page?

Hi Emily,

The slug workshops-old isn’t from Event Espresso 4 as it doesn’t match the URL structure. For example, if you had an event category called Spring Events, then this would be the URL:

example.com/event-category/spring-events/

I think that the workshops-old may be an existing WordPress page with other pages set under it as children.

What happens if you search WP-admin –> Pages for workshops-old?

ah! you are a genius. thank you. it was the slug of the core programs page.

is there a way to add ‘no events scheduled’ to the upcoming events sidebar widget if there are no event scheduled for my core program? for example: http://billpfeiffer.org/core-programs/core-program-nature-and-ecstasy/

Hi Emily,

You can add the ‘no events scheduled’ message to the upcoming events widget by installing the alternative widget plugin from that can be downloaded here:

https://gist.github.com/joshfeck/27a285c4285a6c986053

After you install the above plugin, you set its widget to appear in the sidebar.

Hi Emily,

We provide examples of custom code where possible for a starting point. That plugin is the existing upcoming events widget + a message for when no events are scheduled.

Here is another example for a different customization:
