Google reCAPTCHA issue

Hi,

I’m still struggling with getting google reCAPTCHA to work in Event Espresso, which you advised should resolve my previous issue. I didn’t resolve before the topic was closed on your forum, “esp_line_item filling up quickly”.

I followed the instructions from the link in your last reply for removing the CF7 scripts when not needed but without success, so I then decided to remove all reCAPTCHA content from the site and start again. I removed all of the keys and turned off/taken out references to reCAPTCHA, with no icon visible. I then re-added the Event Espresso reCAPTCHA in Reg Form Settings, so this should be the only place reCAPTCHA is running on the site, but it doesn’t appear to be loading at all. I tried the keys that I had created previously as well as new keys, these were all v3.

Below are the screenshots so you can see I have selected yes and ticked the boxes in Reg Form Settings. I’m not sure if any of this is relevant but to give you some more background info, I recently followed your advice to switch hosts, I moved to WPEngine. I also started using your Barista child theme for Beaver Builder.

Can you offer any more advice on how to get reCAPTCHA working?

Thanks, Brooke

Hi Brooke,

Just to note that threads automatically close after 14 days of inactivity, I’m just posting that to let you know that we didn’t close your thread ourselves etc, its just hit that threshold and been automatically closed.

I can (if you prefer) re-open that thread and merge this one into it if you wish to keep this in one place?

Now… looking at your site I can see reCAPTCHA is loading on the registration form for me (note that it will only show on the site if you are NOT logged in). The problem right now is your using the wrong key type for the version of reCAPTCHA in EE.

You mentioned your using v3 keys, but EE4 uses ‘Invisible’ reCAPTCHA which requires V2 keys.

If you log into your reCAPTCHA admin console:

https://www.google.com/recaptcha/admin/create

Create a v2 key (call it whatever you prefer in the console, I just use ‘EE4 Example Key’)

Select ‘Invisible reCAPTCHA badge’

In domains type in your domain with no scheme or anything else, you haven’t posted any links to your site so I won’t post it here but you want example.co.uk and not https://www.example.co.uk in that section.

Accept the terms and conditions and create the key –

You’ll get a site and secret key. Add those in EE, I’m sure you know where by now but its Event Espresso -> Registration Form -> Reg Form Settings.

Then in a private/incognito window register onto an event, when you get to the registration form, check for reCAPTCHA there.
