It automatically will grab the correct venue if you’ve selected a venue in the event editor.
If the above still throws an error, can you set WP_DEBUG to true to see if it prints out a more detailed error message? The more details, the better in this case.
Here is what I get when I use WP_Debug and the shortcode you provided

Along with that, can you create a new test event, assign the same venue to this test event, then place the [ESPRESSO_VENUE] shortcode in the event’s description?
Also if possible please let us know the venue details so we can try to reproduce the error on another site.
Found that I had left a shortcode in the event venue description and that was killing it. Sorry for my confusion and thanks so much for your phenomenal support!
Thanks for letting us know you resolved it. Was the culprit shortcode an EE shortcode or some other? The venue should strip out shortcodes to stop issues like this.
