Our client is using Google Maps feature in their events from the venue.

However, they are getting a grey outbox.

In looking at some other recent support tickets, could you confirm that it’s because Google Maps is no longer free and adjustments are needed for it now show?

Or if it is caused by something else.

Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,

It’s probably 2 things:

1) This message appears in the browser’s console when viewing your site:
Geocoding Service: You have exceeded your daily request quota for this API.

If you did not set a custom daily request quota, verify your project has an active billing account: For more information on usage limits and the Google Maps JavaScript API services please see: js:49:173
Google Map geocode was not successful for the following reason: OVER_QUERY_LIMIT ee_gmap.js:71:8

2) There are two calls being made to the Google Maps API and there should only be one.
Here’s a screenshot of the first one:
That one isn’t from Event Espresso so the possible scenarios are there’s another plugin, a theme function, or some custom code that’s making that call.
Here’s a screenshot of the second one (the one from EE) :

In order to get the maps to display you’ll likely need to address both of the above items.
